First in the world! This Nasdaq-listed Company Announces Dividend Payments in Bitcoin

BTCS Inc (NASDAQ:BTCS), a small company listed on the Nasdaq that focuses on blockchain technology, said they will be the first company in the world to pay a dividend to investors in bitcoin.

The company said in a statement that investors of record on March 17 will have the option of receiving a cash dividend of 5 cents per share, or the equivalent in bitcoin.

The company's shares rose sharply after the announcement, closing up 43 percent at $4.36 as of Wednesday's close, and the company's market capitalization rose to $44.8 million.

Bitcoin fell nearly 7% in 24 hours to $43,000 after the Federal Reserve announced its interest rate resolution.
