BlackRock to launch first ETF product in China this year, recruiting in Shanghai

In the global market, BlackRock's flagship iShares family of ETFs continues to see strong growth momentum. It attracted $306 billion in subscriptions in 2021, accounting for 57% of the new influx of funds in all of the firm's active and passive products.


Shanghai Team To better establish roots in China, BlackRock is hiring for positions corresponding to the ETF portfolio, such as in fund management, operations and marketing, people familiar with the matter said. The firm's initial plan is to assemble a team of five to six people, they said.

People familiar with the matter also revealed that candidate interviews have been shifted from offline to online due to the impact of the outbreak.


BlackRock's Shanghai office reportedly now has at least 70 employees, according to industry association data. In a response to the media, BlackRock also said it is "investing in more local talent" to support its growth.
