R3 offshoot Obscuro introduces an Ethereum blockchain privacy solution

Rollups is now the most popular Layer 2 Ethereum scaling method, and Obscuro takes a different approach. Rollups are classified into two types: optimistic, which are operationally fast but have withdrawal delays, and ZK, which are processor-intensive and slow but do not have withdrawal delays. Obscuro has the advantage of performing transactions rapidly and permitting fast withdrawals because it uses processors with TEEs.

Because Obscuro is open source and employs an Ethereum-compatible virtual machine, existing smart contracts may frequently be ported to Obscura with minimum adjustments. A DAO with a Swiss Foundation will govern the project.

Meanwhile, EY is introducing its latest Ethereum privacy service, Polygon Nightfall, a Layer 2 solution that combines Optimistic Rollups but Zero Knowledge Proof technology to keep transactions secret.
