Notably, Beeple's record $69.3 million NFT sale was not successful, as the company described the NFT collection as "limited edition artwork built around pre-rendered templates.

Fan tokens also appear as a category in the book. Manchester City's token - launched through Socios in June 2021 - was recorded as the "most valuable fan token" with a market value of $47.1 million as of March 24, 2022.

Last June, El Salvador was also listed in the book for being "the first country to adopt bitcoin as legal tender.

"It is hoped that this initiative, which has been condemned by the World Bank, will reduce the cost of international transfers - an important consideration for a country that relies on workers sent home from abroad," it reads.

A Guinness World Records spokesperson told Cointelegraph that each edition "attempts to reflect the zeitgeist of the year and the topics our readers are likely to discuss," with cryptocurrencies joining key themes like space travel and TikTok.

They said, "As the technology that supports cryptocurrencies continues to evolve and find wider application, we will be following this area with interest in the coming years."

When asked what the most vexing and monumental record in Cryptomania was, the speakers highlighted the innovation of Bitcoin, noting that it took the company a long time to figure it out.

"Researching this title involved not only figuring out how to describe what the blockchain is [...] but also about decades of cryptocurrency research and how it differs from any earlier project."

Last week, cryptocurrency exchange Binance also revealed that it broke a Guinness World Record for being recognized as having held the largest crypto course to date, with 289 people attending Blockchain Land Nuevo León on October 7.
